The compositional elements in this photo are focused on shape and space. The principles that this photo focuses on are balance and contrast. Taking this photo, I considered the distance by shooting a few feet away, and a little above ground level. I controlled the lighting by having nothing but the candle light, to strengthen the contrast. I also focused on the flame making it look really sharp and bright, so that it's the first thing the viewer sees in the photo. The photo follows the rule of thirds and doesn't have a distracting background. I think this photo creates a relaxed and peaceful mood, maybe a mysterious feeling also. I think this photo's strongest principle is the contrast between its positive and negative space. |
The compositional elements in this photo are focused on shape and texture. The principle that this photo also focuses is contrast. Taking this photo, I was close up, and a little above eye level. I controlled the lighting by having nothing but the candle light, to strengthen the contrast and focus. The focus of the photo is also on the flame. The photo doesn't have a distracting background. I think this photo creates a peaceful mood. I think the strongest part of this photo is the sharp focus on the flame, making that a strong view point and the first thing the viewer sees. |
The elements and principles of this photo are texture, contrast, and space. I took this photo from an ant's point of view, making the point of view interesting to the viewer. I didn't have any lighting other than the candle light, so there wouldn't be a distracting background. The lighting also helps distinguish between positive and negative space. I focused on the lid of candle, making the texture really easy to see and an interesting view point. I think the strongest part of the photo is the interesting point of view. |
